For our free day I tried to do as many things and go as many places as possible in this last day in London. To start off my day we visited Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. This was built in commemoration of his work and is a replica of what a Theatre in Shakespeare’s time would be like. His old residence where he wrote many of his works has since been torn down and taken over by the urbanization, but the Theatre was built not far from the residence.
The next event that I just had to get in before I left was the London Eye. The waiting line was incredibly long, but definitely worth it. It amazed me to see just how large the city actually is. To be able to see all of the architecture at once was nothing short of beautiful. Before the day was over we also went to the Tower of London and walked across Tower Bridge. The last thing to get in for the day was taking a walk and sight see the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, and Buckingham Palace.
Overall my trip to London was an experience I will never forget. I have never been somewhere that is so rich in history yet so up to date as London is. I feel there is so much to be learned from the city. The thrill of being somewhere so new and different kept me anxious the entire week…there was never a dull moment! There is so much to see and do, way too much for just one week. I am more than likely going to be making plans to return to London in the future because of what this trip has opened my eyes to.
